Survivor 41 Episode 7 Reaction
To be clear: I still hate this twist. The twists are part of what make Survivor great and have kept this show going for 21 years. That being said, not all twists are created equal. The decision to give any player the opportunity to reverse an immunity challenge result came from a part of Pandora’s Box that has already unleashed countless other agents of chaos. Even the Outcasts twist would have been a few levels earlier in that box. Hopefully, it will never be repeated, but I won’t hold my breath. After all, despite the negative reception of Survivor: Edge of Extinction, the titular twist was reused for Winners at War, significantly lowering the stakes of and hindering the most anticipated season of the show’s history.
Miraculously, I didn’t hate this episode despite countless red flags. Six players, half the remaining cast, did not receive a confessional. The infamous “live tribal” made its return complete with whispering and players getting out of their seats. Yet I felt like I knew most of what was going on. Almost every player was involved in the strategy that culminated with a chaotic vote. A lot of the action was driven by the twist-heavy nature of this season, but every player worked with what they had.
